I can work with you and your veterinarian, nutritionist, farrier, or other equine professionals to develop a fitness program to help your horse achieve his/her optimum fitness level. This includes cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, and ideal body weight. This can benefit any equine companion, including performance horses, broodmares, geriatrics, and those recovering from injury or time off. Why should you be concerned with the fitness level of your horse? Horses aren't that different from people. We don't ask marathon runners or olympic athletes to perform before their bodies are physically fit and able to withstand the pressures of performing. Asking too much of your horse before he/she is physically ready can increase the risk of muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries. It can also put too much stress on their respiratory and cardiovascular systems. Those horses who aren't performance horses can also greatly benefit from a fitness program. Just like with people, it is important to stay active to prevent muscle loss and weakness, and preserve overall health. Properly conditioning your horse will keep him/her safer, healthier, and increase your chances of success no matter what you and your horse are trying to achieve. Rates: ~ Consultation session: identify the needs of your horse and discuss possible options and activities you can do with your horse to achieve your specific goal. This is designed for people who want to improve their horse's fitness level but are not interested in entering into an intense six month program: $75 ~ 6 month program, includes a minimum of 12 appointments. Covers initial conditioning, improvement conditioning, and maintenance program. This program is designed for those people who are interested in producing performance-level horses: $600 * A mileage fee will be charged for locations more than 25 miles from * Oregon City, OR * Rates are subject to change without notice |
